Sip Lab
Next Generation Networking
Even if IP Network communication technologies are quite recent and in fast evolution, they have already reached a high maturity and reliability level. Skytechnology fully invested in the Voice over IP (VOIP) field, by starting a specific laboratory called “SIP Lab”; now its focus is in developing applications, based on basic rules and knowledge, able to provide an high “intelligent level” to TCL systems.
Skytechnology wants to be an ideal partner in the design of next generation networking systems, by supplying advanced and customizable services.
Application fields
Virtually, there are no limits for applications using audio and video communication technologies. So we choose to adopt state-of-the-art software only and now, the skill acquired by working with these tools, allows us to owns the full control over the main communication mechanisms, like the session initiation or the communication flow handling. In this way it is possible to design the best solution matching the specific custom requirements (see, for example, the following section about social network projects), by developing pc-to-pc vocal transmission systems, wide band video communications among internet users, video on demand, remote access to internal IP PBX numbers, intra-company calls, Voip on local networks, etc.

Technologies
Experiences derived from the SIP Lab fixed our decision to adopt Linux and Asterisk as application baseline for all customers working with Open Source-based platforms and the Communicator suite for those working with Microsoft platforms. These tools are often associated to databases, webservers and custom software modules in order get the maximum level of system performance, availability and maintainability.
SIP Lab
The main aim of SIP laboratory was to devote rooms and moneys for experimenting and evaluating different audio-video communication systems for IP networks. Thanks to the laboratory we got important experiences and results on these technologies, with particular emphasis on the Session Initation Protocol (SIP) and on a variety audio/video codec (g.711, g.723, g.726,g.729, gsm, h.263, h.264).

Social networks
The project of social networks is a typical example of an “intelligent” communication networks. Terminals are videophones by which it is possible to call a person by pressing the destination phone number – as in all traditional systems – but it is also possible to require new services by pressing a single buttons only: it is up to the system server to route the service provider, basing on information and rules continuously updated. The service provider is then able to broadcast messages to the terminals or to drive custom specific information to a specific node. These features may be used to address both social information and advertising messages, with possibility of use different profiles for each users.
