In the current years Skytechnology is cooperating with several leading companies in the transportation sector. Important contributes are in Design and Validation of HW/SW components - at different security integrity levels (SIL) -, in Diagnostic and Maintenance Systems, and in the assessment of Standards and Methodologies.

Even if most of the technologies used in the transportation systems are common to the other embedded sectors, specific transportation technologies exist; in particular, we experienced railways communication protocols like TCN, MVB and more general one like CAN and their analysis tools. Also, we have a deep knowledge of the CENELEC suite of standards - EN50126, EN50128, EN50129 – and the consequent way to design and validate software at SIL2 or SIL4 level.

The main experiences range in: Software Systems: development of a SIL4 BSP for a general purpose COTS board; Maintenance Systems: maintenance and commissioning tools for signaling systems; Diagnostic Systems: activities in a Diagnostic System for Train Maintainance for a train fleet; Standards and Methodologies: complete assessment and implementation for an EN50128 SIL2-4 sw development platform.

Transportation systems requires deep activities on software V&V; besides the use of commercial tools (Cantata, Rational suite, etc.) we developed a specific real-time test tool based on the Practice syntax of the Lauterbach environment; this tool, born for host-based testing, is now under upgrading for adding target-based features.

It is also important to highlight our capability to realize simulation test-benches useful for integration and validation of train subsystems and the knowledge of military and railways standard for supporting our Clients about RAMS problems.
