System Lifecycle
More than a simple sequence of steps, we think system design should be intended as a whole. From the initial system business idea with its conceptual design to the final commitment we believe that thinking as a whole, together with the complete sharing of customer goals and needs, will make the difference.
While
the Business Idea is a typical customer job, all the other
phases may be made by Skytechnology, with or without involving
the customer; during the Conceptual Design a first decomposition
of the system is done, selecting macro components like subsystems,
abstract HW/SW components, communication network, presentation media,
etc. The Analysis phase is devoted to the requirement specification, - covering all the
functional/quality/safety aspects of the system/subsystem/component -
to the make or buy analysis and, in specific
cases, to the risk analysis. The next step is the
System Architectural design, where the system is formally
described in terms of HW/SW components (to buy or to develop), their
interfaces and the way for validating them. During the
Development phase specific FW and SW components (and sometimes
specific HW boards) are built according to the requirement previously
defined; verification is part of this phase. The
System Integration is perhaps the most important phase: when all
the components are available, either by means of COTS
procurement or by development of validated
components, the system becomes to be assembled - a component with
its partner, then 3 components, a subsystem, 2 subsystems and, at the
end, the entire system.
Now the system is ready to be installed: the final Commitment phase is then the moment when the Skytechnology team, together with the customer, validates the solution and is ready for an new opportunity.
